Depth Filter Holders
Details
vipur offers ErtelAlsop laboratory depth filter holders for filter sheets (single and multi-layer) and 16" depth filter capsules for all available ErtelAlsop depth filter media.
Laboratory holders are manufactured in four different versions, depending on the required filtration area.
Three different 16" capsule depth filter holders are dimensioned for pilot plant and production.
Laboratory Depth Filter Holders
Via ErtelAlsop, vipur offers a complete selection of laboratory filter holders for holding single and double-layer depth filter sheets with and without storage containers in heat able or coolable options.
All lab scales are thus perfectly represented.
The design comes from ErtelAlsop, production takes place directly at the main plant and the application-specific requirements are implemented in a qualified manner together with vipur Engineering.
The ErtelAlsop 4T Series laboratory filter holder is the entry-level model in the T Series in terms of filter area. Designed to accommodate the smallest disc diameter of 47mm, it represents the entry standard in laboratory scale. The unit is available in either all 316 stainless steel including cylinder for a maximum pressure of 4,1barg or Pyrex® glass for filtration down to 2barg. The stainless steel reservoir can be fitted with either a heating or cooling jacket.
A clever ErtelAlsop idea is the development of a separating ring to hold two depth filter layers.
With this and many other engineering implementations, we at vipur see many benefits from this global supplier.
Standard equipment:
- Stainless steel cylinder (model 4T)
- Pressure gauge
- EPDM seal
- Stainless steel laboratory stand
Optional additional equipment:
- Pyrex glass cylinder (model 4TP)
- Heating or cooling jacket (model 4TJ)
- Without storage container (model 4TS)
- Sanitary connections
- Tubing and pumps
- Sealing material - Teflon, Neoprene, Viton, Buna, Silicone
The ErtelAlsop 10T Series laboratory filter holder is the second largest model in the T Series in terms of filter area. Designed to hold depth filters with a disc diameter of 105mm, it is the next larger standard in the laboratory range. The unit is available in either all 316 stainless steel including cylinder for a maximum pressure of 4,1barg or Pyrex® glass for filtration down to 2barg. The stainless steel reservoir can be fitted with either a heating or cooling jacket.

The ErtelAlsop 21T Series laboratory filter holder is the third model in the T Series in terms of filter area. Designed to hold depth filters with a disc diameter of 140mm, it is the next larger standard in the laboratory range. The unit is available in either all 316 stainless steel including cylinder for a maximum pressure of 4,1barg or Pyrex® glass for filtration down to 2barg. The stainless steel reservoir can be fitted with either a heating or cooling jacket.

The ErtelAlsop 43T laboratory filter holder is the largest model in the T Series in terms of filter area. Designed to hold depth filters with a disc diameter of 200mm, it represents the largest standard in the T Series laboratory range. The unit is either all 316 stainless steel including cylinder for a maximum pressure of 4,1barg or Pyrex® glass for filtration down to 2barg. 16" Capsule Depth Filter Holders
16" capsule depth filter holders are justified both in pilot plant and production scale.
Depending on the application, the customer must evaluate to what extent the use of a Single-Use system at this scale makes sense or not.
We at vipur support you in this process with our many years of expertise.
Depending on the scale, ErtelAlsop has three different depth filter holders in its range, all of which can accommodate the different 16" Single-Use capsule formats.
The pilot plant depth filter holder is suitable for holding a 16" MicroCap Pro™ capsule.
Regardless of whether small, medium, or large MicroCap Pro™ capsules are used, no additional manifold is required on the inlet and outlet side.
Our customers appreciate this cost advantage and, above all, the resource savings.
Due to its small dimensions, the MCP-F depth filter holder requires little space and is therefore easy to transport.
This filter holder is ideal for use in the filtration of media in pilot plant scale.
The pilot plant depth filter holder MCP-S is suitable for holding a maximum of 4 Small MicroCap Pro™ capsules, or 3 Medium MicroCap Pro™ capsules, or 2 Large MicroCap Pro™ capsules.
This filter holder is therefore ideal for use in the filtration of media from pilot plant scale to small production scale.
With its four wheels (2 fixed, 2 flexible), the MCP-S depth filter holder is designed for mobility so that it can be moved quickly and easily from one location to another in the pilot plant.
MicroCap Pro™ capsules are inserted vertically into the depth filter holder and removed again after filtration.
For operation, one manifold (MFLDT6) is required at the inlet and one manifold (MFLDT6) at the outlet. To keep the differential pressure at the inlet and outlet as low as possible, these were designed with 2" TC connections.
Due to the number of capsules that can be accommodated, 2-stage depth filtration is possible, for example. An open depth filter medium is used in the first filtration stage and a fine depth filter medium in the second filtration stage.
The MCP-S depth filter holder is suitable for holding 16" competitor capsules.
The MCP-L production depth filter holder is suitable for holding a maximum of up to 7 Large MicroCap Pro™ capsules.
This filter holder is therefore ideal for use in the filtration of media on a production scale.
With its four wheels (2 fixed, 2 flexible), the MCP-L depth filter holder is designed for mobility so that it can be moved safely from one location to another in the production plant.
The production holder enables the 16" capsules to be loaded in a horizontal position. Filtration takes place in a vertical position - at the end of filtration, the 16" capsules are removed again in a horizontal position.

Video about MicroCap Pro™ Single-Use Filtration System
This video is primarily intended to illustrate the MicroCap Pro™ Single-Use product portfolio.
The respective filter holders for the laboratory area/MCP-F, pilot plant/MCP-S and production
area/MCP-L are presented. In the video you can see a demo of the handling of the filter capsules and,
if necessary, the manifolds.
These illustrations serve to demonstrate how easy it is to use a capsule system for depth filters in
practice. We would particularly like to emphasise that the laboratory holder/MCP-F can be operated
without the use of manifolds.
