AXISFLOW™
Details
Our supplier Biochromatographix International (BCI) is developing a new generation of chromatographic monoliths for the purification of advanced biopharmaceuticals.
Unlike conventional packed-bed chromatography resins, these monoliths use a highly interconnected porous structure that enables predominantly convective mass transfer. This allows biomolecules to move efficiently through the chromatographic matrix and can provide high flow rates, short processing times and high productivity.
AXISFLOW™ was developed by BCI specifically to meet the requirements of modern biopharmaceutical and offers a high-performance platform for applications in gene therapy, cell therapy, vaccine production and the development of innovative therapeutics.
AXISFLOW™ QA is a next-generation anion-exchange monolith developed for the purification of large biomolecules, such as plasmid DNA (pDNA). AXISFLOW™ QA is a high-performance anion-exchange resin based on quaternary amines (QA), which has been specifically developed to meet the requirements of modern biopharmaceutical processes, addressing two key challenges in biopharmaceutical manufacturing simultaneously: throughput and high yield.
AXISFLOW™ QA offers decisive advantages, particularly in the purification of plasmid DNA (pDNA). Plasmid DNA has become an increasingly important raw material and therapeutic modality, particularly as a starting material for viral vector production and for applications such as DNA and mRNA-based therapeutics. Its large molecular size makes efficient purification challenging and can limit the performance of conventional chromatography media. Compared with conventional chromatography resins, AXISFLOW™ QA enables faster, flow-independent mass transport and rapid mass exchange. It exhibits high chemical stability and NaOH resistance for CIP cleaning, whilst simultaneously ensuring high chromatographic performance.
As a result, AXISFLOW™ QA delivers scalable results for research, process development and production, making it an attractive technology for the development and optimization of efficient pDNA purification processes.
